Tax & Allowances
Work out how your income affects tax-free allowances and thresholds.
UK tax has a handful of thresholds that quietly change what you owe once your income crosses them: the £100,000 Personal Allowance taper, the pension Annual Allowance, the High Income Child Benefit Charge and the Capital Gains exempt amount. These calculators work out where you sit against each one. The adjusted net income calculator is the usual starting point, because that figure drives most of the others.

These calculators deal with allowances and thresholds rather than ordinary salary, so each answers a quite different question.
The adjusted net income calculator is the one to reach for if your income is near £100,000, where the Personal Allowance is withdrawn at £1 for every £2 above it, or near £60,000, where the High Income Child Benefit Charge begins. Pension contributions reduce adjusted net income, which is why people use it to check whether a contribution keeps them under a threshold.
The pension carry forward calculator works out how much unused Annual Allowance you can bring forward from the three previous tax years, which matters if you want to pay in more than this year's allowance. The pension withdrawal tax calculator covers the other end: 25% of an untouched pot is normally tax-free and the remaining 75% is taxed as income, so a large withdrawal can push you into a higher band.
The Capital Gains Tax calculator applies when you sell rather than earn: property, shares, crypto or business assets, including the Annual Exempt Amount and Business Asset Disposal Relief.
