Everything else on MySums deals with tax, pay or property. These two estimate everyday UK costs that have nothing to do with any of that, and both are built from published figures rather than guesswork.
The London taxi fare calculator is built from Transport for London's own published typical fare ranges. A London black cab is metered by law, and the meter combines distance with a time charge for when the cab is stopped or moving slowly, so the same journey costs different amounts in different traffic. That is why the result is a range rather than a single price. Three tariffs apply: Tariff 1 on weekdays from 05:00 to 20:00 is cheapest, Tariff 2 covers weekday evenings and weekends, and Tariff 3 covers nights and public holidays.
The EV charger installation cost calculator estimates what a home wall-box charger costs to fit, including labour, materials and the electrical work, which is usually a larger share of the bill than the charger itself.
