Editorial and Corrections Policy

Every calculator on MySums is written and reviewed by Eman Munir, ACCA. This page sets out how that work is checked, how to tell us if a figure looks wrong, and exactly what happens after you do.

Last updated: 30 August 2026

Report a calculation error

If a result looks wrong, email corrections@mysums.co.uk. To help us find the problem quickly, please include:

  • which calculator you were using, and a link to the page
  • the exact figures you entered
  • the result you got, and the result you expected
  • the source you are comparing against, if you have one

You can also use the contact page for anything that is a question rather than a correction.

What happens when you report something

  1. Acknowledgement within one working day. We confirm we have received your report, usually within 24 hours.
  2. Investigation. Eman re-checks the calculator's logic against the primary source (HMRC, gov.uk, gov.wales or revenue.scot) and against a worked example by hand.
  3. Outcome. We tell you what we found: either the calculator was correct and why, or it was wrong and has been fixed.

How corrections are made

When a figure is wrong, it is corrected at the source of the calculation, not patched over. Once the fix is live:

  • the calculator's last reviewed date is updated
  • a material correction, meaning one that changed a result people rely on, is noted briefly on the calculator page so the change is visible, not silent
  • if the same mistake could affect other calculators, those are checked in the same pass

How calculators are checked before they go live

The full detail is on the methodology page. In short: every figure comes from a named primary source, the logic is checked the way an accountant checks a client calculation, each calculator is tested against a hand worked example, and every page is revisited whenever a tax year, Budget or rate change affects it.

Editorial independence

MySums is an independent, UK-based sole trader business, co-founded by Eman Munir, ACCA and Shahzaib Nadeem. It is not owned by, funded by or affiliated with any bank, broker, pension provider or accountancy firm. There are no referral fees, no lead generation and no paid placements, and advertising on the site has no influence on what any calculator shows.

Who is responsible for the numbers

Eman Munir, ACCA writes and reviews every calculation on MySums and is responsible for its accuracy. Shahzaib Nadeem, the other co-founder, builds and runs the site but does not write or review any of the calculations. If something is wrong, it is our job to fix it, and we would rather you told us.
